Community Service Hours per Member (6 points)

  • How to earn points:
    • 3 points for averaging 6 hours of service per member per semester.
    • 2 points for averaging 4 hours of service per member per semester.
    • 1 point for averaging 2 hours of service per member per semester.
    • 0 points for averaging less than 2 hours of service per member per semester.
  • Due Date: May 1 or November 1

  • Note: Community Service is a collaboration between members of MSU and a community or community-based group that results in beneficial services. Community service may, or may not, be related to an academic program and can be performed by students, faculty, and staff. Community service includes co-curricular service and civic engagement.
  • Note: OFSL will total the number of hours for each semester and divide by the number of chapter members based on grade report rosters to determine the average.

Philanthropic Donations (4 points)

  • How to earn points:
    • 2 point per semester for making a philanthropic donation to a nonprofit/charitable organization.
    • 0 points per semester for not making a philanthropic donation to a nonprofit/charitable organization.
    • Note: Proof of donation is required to receive points. Donations can be monetary or goods.

Campus Involvement (4 points)

  • How to earn points:
    • 2 points per semester for 80% of the chapter affiliated with 1 non-Greek student organization.
    • 1 point per semester for 50-79% of the chapter affiliated with 1 non-Greek student organization.
    • 0 points per semester for less than 50% of the chapter affiliated with 1 non-Greek student organization
  • Due Date: May 1 or November 1
  • How to Submit: FSL Staff will pull roster reports from Cowbell Connect rosters. Students must be on the organization's Cowbell Connect roster to be considered a member.

Campus-Wide Event Participation (4 points)

  • How to earn points:
    • 2 points per semester for at least 30% of chapter participating as a group in at least one Campus-Wide Event, such as MLK Day of Service, Dance Marathon, The Big Event, etc.
    • 0 points per semester for less than 30% of chapter participating as a group in at least one Campus-Wide Event.
  • Due Date: May 1 or November 1
  • How to Submit: Submit Attendance Roster and Photos in SOFE Reporting Form

Member Leadership & Service (4 points)

  • How to earn points:
    • 4 points for at least 10% of the chapter participating in a leadership opportunity.
    • 3 points for 8-9.9% of the chapter participating in a leadership opportunity.
    • 2 points for 6-7.9% of the chapter participating in a leadership opportunity.
    • 0 points for less than 6% of the chapter participating in a leadership opportunity.
    • Note: Each chapter member may only be counted once in the chapter percentage, regardless of how many leadership opportunities participated in or held. Serving on executive council within your chapter does NOT count towards this percentage. Leadership opportunities for members include holding an executive council position/office in a non-Greek student organization, serving on Student Association, Orientation Leader, Roadrunner, Involvement Ambassador, Council Governing Boards ( Pan Exec, etc), being a Gamma Chi or Rho Chi, or participation in a leadership program from a national organization.

Additional leadership opportunities will be approved and added to this list on a case-by-case basis.
